Originating from Malaysia (home of
the world famous Petronas Twin Towers), “Batik Art
Painting” introduces a
new concept of D.I.Y. basic batik coloring technique. Through
the mixture of 3 basic batik dye colors: red, blue, and yellow -
more vibrant colors can be mixed to paint and create a unique
masterpiece.
What is batik? Batik means ‘wax
writing’ or drawing with a metal pen-tool (chanting), filled
with hot wax. Drawn on a surface – usually cloth, to create
intricate patterns and designs.
An ancient craft and delicate art,
the true origin is still a mystery. However, evidence of early
batik has been found in the Middle East, as far back as 2000
years ago. Despite its uncertain origins, batik has reached its
highest artistic expression in South East Asia, particularly in
Malaysia and Indonesia.
Batik is a versatile art that can
become an ideal hobby, for amateurs as well as for an
experienced artist’s expression. The trend today, is to decorate
the fabric in any design the artist wishes. Old patterns are now
being replaced by new imaginative designs.
One can open up new vistas of
creative form. Batik cloth can be made into garments, painting
